DOHA DEVELOPMENT AGENDA
The Doha Development Agenda (DDA) is the current Trade Negotiation Round of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which commenced in November 2001. Its objective is to lower trade barriers around the world, and thus facilitate increased global trade.
The DDA recognized the perceived need to build the capacity of member states of the Community to negotiate effectively in their international trade relations. As a result, the Ministers of Trade of the ECOWAS region man- dated the then ECOWAS Commission to find ways of providing a capacity building programme for its members.
